Duty Officer at Hällby Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding on, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Duty Officer, you will be responsible, together with the prison inspectors, for the security at the prison. You will operationally lead and distribute daily tasks. You will also have the highest operational decision-making authority during evenings, nights, and weekends. You have a designated operational responsibility during incidents and collaborate with the prison's incident management. Together with the security coordinator, you will also be responsible for the distribution and follow-up of daily security tasks. The work also includes collaborating with the regionally coordinated staffing regarding planning and handling personnel ranking during non-office hours. In this role, you will report and provide support to the prison management. You will also support and lead the staff in a positive and developmental manner. Duty Officers at Hällby Prison are on duty Monday to Sunday, 24/7.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is structured, secure, and stable. You should have good collaboration skills and be responsive to the needs of the operation. You should be able to plan and execute your work effectively, even under high workloads, to achieve set goals and results, and act in accordance with decisions, policies, and guidelines. You should have a good ability to overview and see the operation from a holistic perspective.

You should also be aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed upper secondary education in the form of final grades or a high school diploma.
  • Approved basic training from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
  • The Swedish Prison and Probation Service's internal Duty Officer training.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Good administrative skills and the ability to document decision-making materials and cases related to authority exercise in a clear and structured manner.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience as a Duty Officer in a prison/remand center.
  • Experience in operational security work.
  • Experience in personnel ranking.
  • Language skills beyond Swedish and English.
  • Leadership experience.
